Brunswick Heads is one of my favourite places to visit in Northern New South Wales. It’s location on the banks of the Brunswick River provides the best of both worlds with surf and river access at your fingertips. There is no shortage of activities to do, or even just simply relax by the water with a drink in hand. It’s an ideal location for boaties with great fishing to be had from the mouth to the rainforest hinterland, and great surf for keen boardriders.

Unlike close neighbour Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads has been able to avoid the influx of weekend tourists and keep it’s small town charm.

Being only an hour and half drive from Brisbane, it’s the perfect weekend getaway location. So throw your family and a tent, swag or even just a simple camping mattress in the car and take a trip across the border and visit beautiful Brunswick Heads.

Brunswick Heads Ferry Reserve Holiday Park

Ferry Reserve Holiday Park

Positioned further upstream from Terrace Reserve is the Ferry Reserve Holiday Park. Based on the Brunswick River, it’s a bit further out of town (about a 15minute walk) but provides great views of both the river and mountains to the west.

Named after the location of the first cross river ferry, Ferry Reserve Holiday park offers guests access to a wide range of activities such as fishing, swimming, kayaking and boating with all campsites and cabins close to the river.

For those looking to hit the surf beach it is only a quick 3 min drive down the road to the nearest patrolled beach at Brunswick Heads.

The park has over 80 camping sites and 5 cabins to choose from. Many of the campsites are on the banks of the river, along with the cabins and are very popular, so book ahead.
